Organize users via grouping categoriesGroupings

Easily organize your users with the new groupings feature. Grouping categories allow you to organize users into useful segments within your organization - and users can belong to more than one segment. Create a Department grouping, a Location grouping, and a Job Title grouping, for example. Then assign users to the groupings using the simple assignment form.

After you create your groupings you can use them to assign courses to users based on these groupings. Assign the New Employee curriculum to users in that group, then assign the OSHA curriculum to users at the Chicago location, and assign Sexual Harassment training to all Department Managers throughout your organization. Groupings are a powerful way to easily setup and assign training curriculums to different, yet overlapping, segments of you user population.

Groupings are also used to filter training results on reports - so you can quickly follow up on the training assignments and compliance of users in your organization.

New timed quizzes featureTimed quizzes

Want to give trainees a timed quiz? No problem. When you create your quiz, you simply include a maximum time to complete - TrainCaster then keeps track of the elapsed time.

After the time has expired, no further answers can be submitted. The quiz is graded automatically, based on the responses submitted within the specified time frame, and the subsequent score is based on those responses.

As each quiz in your course is setup independently, you can include both timed and untimed tests in your course.

Add essay questions to coursesEssay questions

Integrate essay questions into your course content. Just choose Essay from the drop down Add menu and add your essay question. When trainees get to the essay in the course, they see a form to either type or 'cut and paste' their response. Clicking on the Submit button initiates the grading process for the course instructors. Upon completing a course with an essay question, a training record is not recorded in the database immediately. The trainee sees a message indicating that the essay grade needs to be added manually.

When the essay is submitted, an email is automatically sent to the course manager indicating that an essay has been submitted and needs to be graded. The instructor goes to the Grading page of the course and selects the essay(s) to be graded. The grade is recorded in the database.

See quiz statistics reportsQuiz statistics

Review quiz statistics easily with this new report. This report calculates and displays high score, low score, average score, median, mode and standard deviation. Drill down to view the distribution of quiz responses among the possible selections. This report can help you optimize quiz questions - so you can be sure that trainees understand the questions and possible responses.

Convert Powerpoint to FlashPowerpoint to Flash

If you use animations in your Powerpoint slides to draw attention to certain text or to further engage your trainees, you can now automatically convert Powerpoint files to Flash format. Choosing Flash format will preserve transitions that are used on slides, as illustrated in the image to the right. The text is flying in from the bottom of the screen, rather than being displayed immediately.

Please note that transitions between slides are not preserved; only animations of text and images on slides are preserved.
