Depending on your organization's particular training needs, you can set up and deliver courses in many different formats. Web-based courses are the most common, and can include any type of web-compatible content. You can even combine many training formats into a single course (e.g. SCORM module, followed by a Powerpoint module, followed by a classroom follow-up session at the six-month mark) Courses are accessed by trainees via their training home page, My TrainCaster. To launch a course, trainees click on the course title.
Classroom courses are also managed via TrainCaster - either in combination with a web-training option, or as a standalone training sessions. You can even combine the options: requiring trainees to complete a classroom training session first, and then allowing them to complete refresher courses online. Instructors easily communicate with trainees, update training records, and send out reminders and notifications - just like a web course.
TrainCaster LMS is also fully SCORM compliant - so you can deliver training content developed using any SCORM compliant tool (Articulate, Camtasia, or Captivate, to name a few), as well as purchased SCORM compliant courses.
A streamlined and intuitive training home page lets trainees see and launch courses easily. Just click on the course name to start, or resume, training. Training history is always available, including certificates of completion. Trainees can print or email a duplicate copy of the certificate at any time.
If you've included any supplemental resources or materials in your course, trainees have instant access to them from the course launch page. Trainees can also participate in the course discussion forum directly.
TrainCaster LMS includes a complete Classroom management suite. Setup course 'sessions' to start/end at specific dates and times. Allow trainees to self-enroll, assign sessions directly, or have managers approve/deny registration requests. Trainees can see the classroom offerings via their training home page, under Course Calendar. They can browse and register from the calendar.
You can set an enrollment limit for each classroom session. When the limit is reached, trainees can be added to the wait list automatically.
As the course instructor, you can print the sign-in sheet to be used in the classroom. After the session is completed, you update the database by indicating which trainees were in attendance. Click the UPDATE button and the training records are stored in your database.
If you need to contact trainees about upcoming classroom training sessions, you can broadcast a message to enrolled trainees. Reminder messages are automatically generated, as are enrollment notifications.
SCORM is ADL's Sharable Content Object Reference Model, which integrates a set of related technical standards, specifications, and guidelines designed to increase accessibility, interoperability, durability, and reusability. TrainCaster LMS is a SCORM compliant learning management system - both Version 1.2 and 2004. This means that TrainCaster contains automated processing of SCORM Content Packages providing the capability of importing a SCORM conformant content package without any intervention. SCORM enhances your ability to provide engaging and relevent content to your learners.
You can create SCORM compliant content using many popular desktop tools, including Captivate, Articulate, and Camtasia.
